At hci, we create and customize a variety of products for metal substrates including water-based industrial primers, fast drying alkyd systems that are both lead and chromate free, as well as water-reducible and HAPS free primers and coatings that display excellent coverage and gloss characteristics in one application. Our custom formulas are VOC compliant and provide great versatility for different OEM and general metal applications.

Case Study

Substrate: A variety of steel and metal substrates. Usually cleaned to a white or near-metal blast. Occasionally applied to marginally prepared surfaces.

Application: Typically applied with conventional spray equipment with various air and fluid settings, as well as various spray guns, air caps, and needles. Some products are custom built for dipping applications.

Variables: Typical variables include air and fluid settings, processes or number of coats, and atmospheric conditions. Typical applications require products to dry within a specified amount of time for recoat, handling and packaging purposes. Most products are formulated for ambient air-dry conditions or force dry equipment.

Adhesion: Adhesion was excellent when cross hatch tests were conducted. Application properties needed to exhibit good coverage, hide, and gloss while achieving required dry film build without developing sags or runs while wet.

Colors: Colors were all custom matches per customer requirements.
