Under the general supervision of the Director of Horticulture and within established policies, procedures and guidelines to manage all horticulture design, Floral Showhouse and Butterfly Conservatory front of house displays and exhibits, park wide related seasonal displays, facility related seasonal displays, floristry, operations of the Garden Gift Shop and events which require design and aesthetic support. To ensure horticultural practices and design principles are understood, implemented and adhered to. Ensure that a high level of guest service is maintained and that all activities are efficient and profitable in a manner the meets or exceeds the acceptable standards of excellence of the NPC management and Commission.
Education: Three (3) year Horticulture Diploma or equivalent knowledge and previous experience. Certification Level 4 in Floral Design or equivalent from a recognized institution.
Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years of progressive management experience. Extensive applied experience in the management of conservatory, exhibition, show design and bedding plant growth and cultivation. Extensive theoretical and applied experience and knowledge of floral design and techniques. Knowledge of bedding, exhibition plant culture and performance, suitability for designs, creative design skills of bedding plants, conservatory and events. Experience with Health and Safety, the Health and Safety Act, inspections, incident reports, procedures, budget management, report preparation is required. Experience with Microsoft is required. Experience in Horticulture teaching with lectures and evaluations. Retail experience with merchandising, cash handling, and retail software (Retail Pro) is an asset. A successful Police Information Check is required for the selected candidate.
Niagara Parks offers an annual salary of $70,293 to $83,959 as well as a comprehensive benefit and pension plan.
