To assist and create new ways to recruit, hire and train staff for all winter positions in order to provide quality and timely service for customers. To assist with operational decisions and to assist in the field as required to meet Clintar quality expectations. This is a salary position and although most work will occur through the day this position does requires 24/7 availability.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Maintenance Operations Manager, the essential duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Create a recruitment plan or methods for attracting staff for all winter and summer positions.
  • Hire and train staff while consulting with division managers.
  • Plan and conduct initial training sessions with new hires and to follow up with and conduct mid-season training sessions with established staff.
  • Assist in determining staffing and equipment requirements during winter snow ops based on available data (e.g. site conditions, weather observations and forecast).
  • Maintains morale among field staff and promote teamwork.
  • Coordinate and support the Health and Safety Program including the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) and Health and Safety Representatives. This includes establishing a JHSC meeting schedule and maintaining meeting minutes, tracking monthly inspections, following up on any outstanding action items and providing general health and safety direction.
  • Evaluate quality of service provided and assist with determining work procedures, work schedules and expediting work flow.
  • Monitor and ensure the efficient use of materials and equipment by field staff in accordance with Clintar safety policies and procedures and applicable Laws.
  • At times may be asked to assist with all aspects of winter snow removal and property maintenance such as snow shoveling, salt box filling, litter clean up, the operation of a salt truck, backhoe, loader, or farm tractor.
  • Alternate walks and/or equipment dispatcher in winter
  • Due to the nature and timing/hours of the services provided, availability to field staff is required at all hours, including evenings, nights, Saturdays or Sundays.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of the job, the employee will be required to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear, use hands to handle objects, tools or controls, reach with arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must be able to frequently lift and / or move 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIORMENT

While performing the duties of this job the employee will frequently work in outside weather condition, this will expose the employees to hot, wet and humid, and sub zero conditions. The noise level of the work environment is usually moderate.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Educational and/or Experience

A degree / diploma from university, college or equivalent, five years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.   Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of supervisors, managers, customer and the general public.

  • Computer Competency

Understanding and ability to operate in MS Office (Excel/Word) documents, Outlook, and Internet.

  • Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as, area and volume.

  • Reasoning Ability

Ability to define customer problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions for problem solving. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
