HEAD GARDENER - TORONTO CANADAA mid-town Toronto estate is seeking a full-time, year-round salaried Estate Gardener. YOU MUST BE LEGAL TO WORK IN CANADA OR SPEAK FLUENT FRENCH (which allows client to Sponsor application.)
The garden is internationally acclaimed and is maintained at the highest standards.
The candidate for this position will manage extensive perennial beds, a large lawn, vegetable gardens, and a naturalized ravine. He/she will oversee a full time seasonal Junior Gardener, and will manage numerous professionals, such as arborists, horticulturists, irrigation teams and lawn specialists who also service the garden.
The successful candidate will manage all inventories relevant to the garden, help to upkeep an extensive manual, keep to a clearly defined monthly schedule and manage all administration and expenditures relating to maintaining the garden.
The Head Gardener also ensures that the grounds including patios, decks and pool are always kept well-tended .
Extensive horticultural experience is required as is a minimum of 10 years working experience in a similar position. An in-depth knowledge of plant materials, plant and tree diseases, pruning strategies, soil conditions and watering needs will be required to succeed in this role. A strong work ethic and an understanding that gardening hours are erratic and seasonal, are also essential.
Preference will be given to candidates who have obtained a Master Gardener certificate.
Applicants should have a strong work ethic, strong English communication skills and the ability to anticipate needs and manage time effectively.
In addition, the applicant must maintain privacy and confidentiality at all times, exercising diplomacy, discretion and respecting appropriate boundaries. They must also have a professional personal presentation.
The applicant must possess, or be willing to obtain a valid, clean Ontario driver’s licence (class G) and must be either legally entitled to work in Canada or fluent in French language.
