Weekend Supervisor of Special Events and Senior Snow Services:

Reporting to the Manager of Environmental Services the Weekend Supervisor Environmental Services, oversees the delivery of all special events tied to private permits within the park system (Waterfront, Paulynn and Greenwood Park) and provides support, in collaboration with Recreation, Culture and Community Development, for all corporate special events.

Job Duties include:

• Provide support and offer exceptional customer service for private permit holders for all outdoor space including sportsfields
• Provide support and exceptional customer service at Town sponsored community events
• Manage the even calendar weekly to ensure the appropriate allocation of resources and event set-ups are clearly understood and implemented
• Exceptional Leadership skills to provide direction to staff and contractors
• Review security reports and the after-hours night line, provide follow-up inspections and take the necessary action
• Ensure levels of service are maintained with respect to special events the parks, sportsfields, and open space areas, including routine park inspections
• Ensure all graffiti and vandalism matters are completed in a timely manner to ensure infrastructure remains clean and functional for park users
• Knowledge of winter control service delivery for Operations and Environmental Services including service delivery for roads, sidewalks, trails, municipal parking lots, and senior snow removal services
• Maintain and keep current winter control mapping and documents
• Ensure all outdoor special events and outdoor facility permits and documentation is completed for accuracy and requirements are meeting Town requirements
• This position is expected to work weekends from May to October and be able to support special events scheduled on the weekends outside of this time period

Qualifications:

• 3 year college diploma in event management, landscape design, turf management or a related discipline deemed equivalent
• Minimum five (5) years progressively responsible experience in required field with a minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience or a combination of training, education and experience deemed equivalent
• Minimum four (4) years' experience related to Winter Control Services, including a thorough knowledge of Minimum Maintenance Standards and Hours of Work Legislation
• Experience in the broader public sector, in a unionized environment an asset
• Proven skills in Microsoft office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other software to assist in organization for the section (ActivNet and CityWorks)
• Experience in utilizing maintenance management software for assigning, tracking and verifying maintenance activities in alignment with approved service levels
• Ontario Driver’s Licence – Class “G”
• Ability to prioritize work with competing priorities with both internal and external customer service and various departmental timelines
• Excellent organization, time management and planning skills
• Superior interpersonal skills to communicate professionally with a broad range of business colleagues and community members
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
