Grounds Maintenance Foreperson
About Us
Dutch Canuck Landscaping is an established company whose passion is creating and maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces that extend your living space outside. We primarily provide landscape maintenance services for residential and commercial properties, and have recently acquired a maintenance contract for a massive industrial property in Oakville that will require a dedicated full time crew. We are currently looking for a qualified individual who will lead this crew with minimal supervision.
Grounds Maintenance Foreperson – starting pay $25/hour
If you have been involved with the daily operations of a landscape company to the point where you are considered to be the lead hand to the Foreperson but do not see the opportunity for advancement, or you are currently a Foreperson/ Crew Leader looking for a change …then you may be the perfect candidate!
Our Fore people are an integral role in the success of our company, who keep the crew on task, on time and at an acceptable standard of workmanship. A good Fore Person keeps his/her crew members engaged and feeling valued. Safe practices and diligent record keeping is paramount to the success of daily operations and team member accountability.
Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum of 3 years grounds maintenance experience
- Must be well versed in all aspects of lawn maintenance operations
- Knowledge of many different types of turf care equipment (zero turn, trimmers, etc.)
- Valid G license and own vehicle
- Have a positive attitude, be dependable and value team work
- Collaborative and engaging
- Respectful (to others, of policies, with equipment)
- Confident and fast learner – willing to continually improve
Forepersons Responsibilities:
- Lead a crew of 2-3 individuals with respect and accountability
- Track employee hours using time keeping software
- Track tasks and time using time keeping software
- Operate lawn mowing equipment and other related power equipment
- Report all equipment damages/ failures to owner
- Apply herbicides when and where necessary
- Demonstrate and promote best and safest practices to crew members
- Follow through proactively whenever exceptions to the established best practices occur
- Schedule working hours and tasks based on priority level and weather forecast
- Monitor weather forecasts and weather patterns as they happen in the field to determine execution of schedule
You will be working on a large corporate owned job site with very clear safety policy and guidelines which must be adhered to by all personnel whom enter the property. All safety training, personal protective equipment (other than safety boots) and uniform will be provided to you. There is zero tolerance for acting against safety/ employee policy and will be grounds for immediate escort off the property and dismissal of employment.
