Job Purpose
Our Landscape Mentors are responsible for leading other crew members to complete tasks, while also imparting the knowledge and skills that they have acquired over years of hard work. This person would communicate with operations and project managers to ensure they have what they need to productively complete their projects. We are looking for someone who can creatively solve problems, and even while under pressure, communicate in a positive productive manner. As a project leader, you would be in charge of a truck and a complete set of tools. Making sure they stay in good condition and well maintained. Beyond this, we are also looking for someone who has a passion for creating beautiful, artistic gardens with a focus on integrity and growth.
Duties and responsibilities
- Must be able to interpret designs & architectural drawings
- Must have basic computer skills
- Understanding of how to calculate elevations
- Knowledge of methods and techniques of planting, transplanting, cultivating, pruning and maintaining a variety of lawns, plants, shrubs and trees
- Understanding of landscape construction – interlocking, retaining walls, resurfacing, excavation, drainage, reconstruction, patios, walkways, decks, pouring concrete etc
- Skilled/certified in operating equipment used in construction is an asset
- Ability to oversee and implement effective practices for a team of three or more
- Capable of driving a truck and trailer
- Ability to work while abiding by safety policy and procedures
Job Requirements
- Work hours vary slightly but are 7:30am - 6:00pm. (weekdays) Weekend work optional
- Come to work attentive ready to learn and work hard
- Perform physical labour – lifting objects weighing more than 25lbs
- Manage a team of people, and maintain a critical path for the project you are leading
Wage
- Hourly rate ranges from $20- $40 /hr
- Compensation for this position is based on experience level, it will be tailored to meet your specific needs both in a professional capacity but also in your personal life.
