Jay McKinnon Company is a Design-Build Landscape Construction firm in the London area. We are currently looking for craftsmen to fill our Skilled Labourer positions on our construction crews.

Job Duties

• Assist in the preparation of jobsites prior to beginning of a project
• Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment and materials
• Assist in the construction of woodwork, Stonework, water features, nightlighting and gardens
• Preform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment
• Load and unload materials, tools and equipment required to complete construction projects
• Transport materials using shovels, wheelbarrows, carts, dollies and hand lifting/carrying
• Wear appropiate personal protection equipment at all times with supplied company uniform
• Comply with all company policies and regulations

Requirements

• Minimum experience in the landscape/construction industry
• Effective communication skills (written and verbal)
• Time management skills
• Knowledge of specific materials, methods,tools and equipment required to complete tasks
• Ability to work independently and with little supervision as a part of a team
• Ability to walk, stand, crouch for long periods of time and carry out strenuous physical tasks

Work Conditions

• Ability to lift a minimum of 100 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment in a safe manner
• Work outdoors in various weather patterns including heat, humidity, rain, dust, noise and cold
• 50 hour work weeks with occassional Saturdays

Compensation

• the position pays between $15-$25/hr depending on experience and personality
