The Manager, Humber Arboretum and Centre for Urban Ecology will oversee the general operations of the Humber Arboretum and Centre for Urban Ecology. The incumbent will manage a team of staff to accomplish the priorities and goals of the organization’s Strategic Plan and annual Business Plans. They will foster a workplace culture that prioritizes physical and emotional safety, collaboration, learning, timely and open communication, and trust.
On an ongoing basis, the Manager will ensure effective, safe, and high quality:
1. Development, care, and maintenance of the Humber Arboretum’s ecosystems, wildlife habitats, landscape infrastructure, horticultural collections, and gardens;
2. Development and delivery of educational programs, community outreach initiatives, events, and camps;
3. Support for Humber College teaching, learning, innovation, and research, and
4. Revenue-generating activities (space/building rentals, photo permits, sales, etc.).
The successful incumbent will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a related specialty and a minimum of seven years of related progressive experience. The incumbent will have experience managing a team of staff, a workplace budget, and setting, monitoring, and delivering operational goals. The incumbent will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and responsible. They will have excellent judgement and strong communication and interpersonal skills. Experience working within a post-secondary, parks, and/or public garden setting considered assets.
