Langley School District invites applications for a continuing full time (40 hours/week) Equipment Operator.
Reporting to the Grounds Foreman, the Equipment Operator 2 operates and services any grounds maintenance vehicles and equipment used in the District.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Operates any grounds maintenance equipment including dump trucks, trailer and backhoes in a safe and efficient manner
- Performs routine servicing such as greasing and cleaning air filters of equipment, and reports malfunctions and necessary repairs as required
- Plans work to operate equipment efficiently and effectively
- Performs daily vehicle safety inspection and maintains record of same
- Performs grounds work as required
- Operates tools and equipment of the trade
- Respond to emergency situations as requested
- Inspects (daily) and operates a service vehicle
- Performs other assigned comparable duties which are within the scope of knowledge, skills and abilities required by this class specification.Required qualifications:

- Completion of Grade 10
- Possession of a Class 1 Driver's License with air brake endorsement and an acceptable driving record
- Two years’ experience in operating the required equipment
- Thorough knowledge of and skill in the effective and safe operation and routine maintenance of the equipment operated
- Ability to recognize the need for and make minor mechanical repairs
- Ability to communicate effectively using courtesy and tact in the explanation and exchange of information
- Ability to use judgement in applying established methods and procedures
