LANDSCAPE FOREPERSON

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Drive to and from jobsites , in busy traffic, responsible for circle checks and for reviewing day's work and loading vehicle with materials
• Occasional pickup and delivery of soft and hardscape materials
• Manage a crew of up to three people, supervise crew in safe starting, operation, maintenance and transport of various landscaping equipment: lawn mower, line trimmer , back pack blower, hedge trimmer, aerator , dethatcher, slit seeder and power washer, as required by projects
• Demonstrate best practices and LPCGC process standards in relation to jobs performed , including but not limited to: turf maintenance , garden cultivation and weeding , sodding, perennial, shrub, tree, annual and bulb planting, hedge trimming and selective pruning, spring and fall property clean ups, soil work and over seeding, stonework , irrigation troubleshooting, green roof installation, seasonal urn displays etc.
• Promote safety , wear appropriate personal protective equipment and demonstrate hazard awareness at all times
• Complete required paperwork and report materials used
• Participate in meetings
• Be prepared to start work on time (6:45am) and to work extended hours as necessary (including some Saturdays in the spring and fall)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous residential landscaping experience 3-5 years, skilled at pruning
• Previous supervisory experience 1-2 years
• Post secondary horticultural education or equivalent experience
• Excellent plant care and identification knowledge
• Knowledge of all aspects of residential landscape construction including hardscape installation
• Knowledge of the OH&SA
• Full G license with clean record, comfortable driving in Toronto
• Emergency first aid
• Working at Heights certification (training available)
