Windmill Garden Centre & Landscaping, located south of Orillia is looking for a Landscape Operations Manager to direct the overall business in the areas of landscape projects for residential, commercial and public facilities.
Job Description
The Landscape Operations Manager oversees both the landscape project plan and the employees who implement it in the areas of Stonework, Planting, and Irrigation. Job responsibilities include meeting with clients and management to develop or refine plans for projects, which may include hard and softscaping as well as irrigation systems.
The Landscape Operations Manager will supervise employees who install and maintain landscaping. This may involve scheduling work crews, planning daily work activities, and monitoring the work being completed. The successful candidate may also be responsible for training employees, especially on safety procedures when large equipment or hazardous materials are involved.
As we are a small, locally owned business, our teams roll up their sleeves and work across projects, providing the highest quality service. The ideal candidate will also be hands-on and work with the crews to ensure we provide the best service and end project for our customers. Many tasks include (but are not limited to) the following:
Requirements
Post-secondary education with a focus on horticulture, landscape management, business or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in landscape operations or a related field.
Experience hiring and managing employees and leading teams.
Superior communication and conflict resolution skills.
Experience negotiating prices or providing estimates.
Windmill prides itself on customer service, therefore the ideal candidate will have a strong focus on customers and the ability to build a relationship.
Experience working in a physical environment. Must be able to lift 80lbs and work outdoors in the Ontario weather.
Minimum G driver’s license, with preference to an AZ driver’s license.
Machinery requirements: proficient use of excavators, track loaders, wheel loaders, dump trucks with trailers and small landscape equipment.
Knowledge of all current legislative requirements in the area of health & safety and employment law
We are a seasonally driven business and work long hours in the months from March – December. This position will be full time during those months, with fewer hours in the winter.
