Home Maintenance Worker
Better Living Health and Community Services has an opening for the part time position of Home Maintenance Worker. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting senior clients with outdoor lawn and garden maintenance, snow and ice removal services and light home maintenance and repairs. The successful candidate will be working a minimum of 16 hours per week. The Home Maintenance Service Worker will report directly to the Coordinator, Home Maintenance Services.
The successful candidate for this position must possess the following qualifications:
- Secondary/post-secondary education in a related field or a minimum of one year experience in a similar role
- A valid G-class driver’s license and a clean drivers abstract
- Demonstrated experience in basic lawn and garden maintenance tasks; snow and ice removal, window washing, eaves trough cleaning,
- Demonstrated experience in light home maintenance and repair; junk removal, assembling furniture, hanging shelves, etc.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and operate equipment; truck snow plow, lawn mower,
- Willingness to work on an on-call basis and commit to 16 hours per week minimum
- Flexible and adaptable to changes in daily schedules
- Strong customer service skills
- Access to a data equipped and iOS or Android enabled smartphone
- Experience with snow removal and/or operating a snow plow is a strong asset
- Access to own vehicle is an asset
- Ability to speak a second language is an asset
- Successful completion of Vulnerable Sector Screening within one month of employment
The successful candidate for this position must be able to:
- Assist seniors Clients with outdoor lawn and garden maintenance, snow and ice removal and light home maintenance and repairs
- Operate equipment associated to home maintenance tasks as required (i.e. truck snow plow, snow blowers, lawnmowers, hand and power tools, )
- Conduct service quotes for job requests as required
- Participate in scheduled team meetings and training sessions as required
- Adhere to safety and housekeeping procedures
Salary: $15.30/ per hour
