The Position – Landscape Construction/Development Technician

Seasonal (with winter work available)

 

Summary of Position

 

We are looking for physically fit, highly motivated individuals with excellent work ethics and a knowledgeable background in the construction field. This role is responsible for performing a variety of tasks such as, digging and back filling trenches, planting trees, installing shrubs, lay sod, assist brick masons in forming, pouring and finishing cement, while maintaining a clean and safe job site. This role requires a minimum of 1 year of experience in the construction industry with the able to read blueprints and trouble shoot, able to communicate with all internal and external people.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum 1 year landscape construction/construction experience or equivalent
  • Experience with equipment (hand and power tools, small engines equipment and material)
  • Experience working outside for long periods of time in various weather conditions
  • Own transportation, is considered to be an asset
  • Ability to work 8-10 hours pre day, if required weekends and holidays
  • Ability to walk, stand crouch for long periods of time and carry out physical tasks
  • Safety steel toed boots and International landscaping uniform
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Team work and player
  • Excellent problem solving and time management skills
  • Attention to detail

 

Job Duties:

  • Loading/unloading of trucks and trailers from start to finish of shift including all equipment and materials required to complete daily objectives
  • Conduct daily inspection of the vehicle, if required
  • Complete daily inspection and maintenance on tools and equipment
  • Assist in other job-related duties including construction projects shop and yard maintenance, vehicle and equipment cleanliness
  • Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications to perform work activities
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 to 50 lbs. repeatedly
  • Operate power equipment including, but not limited to hand tools, power tools, small engines equipment and material
  • Perform maintenance work including; lawn, trimming, mulching, weeding, litter pick up
  • Occasionally, provide written reports
  • Document any damaged equipment or problems
  • Document and report any safety concerns to Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Comply with all company polices and regulations
  • Communicate with clients in polite and courteous manners
  • Not limited to any other landscape duties as assigned
