Job Title: Landscaper/Groundskeeper and Part-time Gardner
Reports To: Executive Director of LVBIA, and the APR (Animated Public Realm) Committee Chair, Administrative Coordinator
Job Type: One Full-time Gardner at 35 hours per week Monday to Friday; and One Part-time Gardner three days per week for 6 hours per day.
Duration of Employment:
Seasonal May 1 - August 31, 2018; Seasonal part-time Sept 1 to October 31, 2018
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Spring Clean-Up
- Garden planting and maintenance
- Maintenance duties throughout the season:
- Fall Clean-Up
Including but not limited to:
- Maintain and care for company equipment, tools
- Maintain a clean and safe job site, daily garbage clean-up
- Coordinate with the LVBIA office on a daily basis to receive work orders and delivery of material & the secure storage of the material
Required Skills:
- Positive attitude and proven ability to maintain good working relationships.
- Adhere to Health & Safety Rules
- Self-motivated with a good work ethic
- Desire to produce a high standard of productivity and workmanship
- Be reliable, dependable, accountable and able to show up for work every day on time
- Ability to identify weeds from perennials and different plants/shrubs/trees
- Assist in loading, unloading materials and tools
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
- Fast-paced environment and repetitive tasks
- Physically demanding- walking, bending, crouching, kneeling
- Manual dexterity
- Standing for extended periods
- Access to own transportation
Work Site Conditions:
- Outdoors
- Safety Equipment required which includes steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, and gloves
Qualifications:
- Previous experience gardening and/or landscaping
- A horticultural aptitude and interest - enrollment in a Horticultural program will be considered extremely valuable
- WHMIS Training (or be willing to be trained)
Required Education:
- completed courses in landscaping or horticulture courses
