PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
The City of Belleville’s Irrigation Person is responsible for the maintenance, repair and installation of irrigation systems in horticultural areas, sports fields, parks & open space.
EDUCATION/SPECIALIZED TRAINING/SKILLS:
Essential (minimum) qualifications:
- Grade 12 diploma
- Successful Completion of the Irrigation Association, Certified Irrigation Contractor (CIC) and/or Certified Irrigation Designer – Landscape (CID)
- A class “D” driver’s license, in good standing
- Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA) and the pertinent regulations
Asset (preferred) qualifications:
- Knowledge and understanding of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
- Proficiency in computer use and operation (word processing, e-mail, databases, spread sheets)
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Essential (minimum) qualifications:
Individuals will be required to have a minimum three (3) years of work experience in the following:
- Irrigation system installation and maintenance of residential, commercial, and large area irrigation systems (golf and/or sport fields)
- Pump specification, installation and repair
Asset (preferred) qualifications:
- Equipment Operation, loaders, trucks, trailers, tractors and implements and hand held equipment
- Irrigation industry Best Practices
