Job Position: Groundskeeper

As a Groundskeeper on our team, YOU will be responsible for the full-time management, care and beautifying of 1 single high-end multi-residential property! You will clean up and prepare the site for summer planting, maintain your own stunning garden bed displays and uphold the properties shrubs and hedges.

Start Date: April 1st- October 31st

Pay: $14-$17 dependent on experience

Work hours: (Full time)

                        Monday-Thursday 7:30am-4:30pm

                        Fridays 7:30-1:30pm

Location of job sites: East GTA

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for managing landscaping projects and overall assigned site
  • Responsible for maintaining gardens
  • Plan job in an effective manner to ensure optimum job efficiency and effectiveness
  • Use and operate tools and equipment used in horticulture
  • Plant seeds and transplant seedlings
  • Tree, shrub, and plant examination and treatment
  • Care for growing plant material by watering, pruning, weeding, cultivating, and removing dead or damaged leaf tissue
  • Inspect, handle, and transport nursery stock, as required
  • Plant fertilization and watering
  • Prune trees, shrubs, and hedges
  • General property, lawn and garden maintenance, including daily litter pick-up
  • Operate safely tools such as power mowers, push mowers, electric clippers, pruning saws and other landscape maintenance equipment, as required
  • Perform other manual duties to clean and maintain landscaped environments, shop + equipment
  • Communicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner

Requirements:

  • Completion of college, vocational, or technical training an asset
  • Horticulturist Trade Certification an asset
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience
  • Plant knowledge and identification, specifically trees, shrubs, and perennials
  • Physically fit with strong stamina
  • Ability to follow safe working procedures
  • Excellent observation skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
  • Speak, read, and write English

 Work Conditions:

  • Job requires ability to work with hand tools, small engine equipment, and materials
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Requires good manual dexterity
  • Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis
  • Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold
