Show Participation

Acting

The most visible part of the Eau Claire Children's Theatre is the cast that appears on stage. Join a cast to enjoy the thrill of being on stage, no matter what your age! Cast members also learn about other aspects of theatre as they participate in set building, publicity promotions, loading, and tear down.

Rehearsals are usually held four nights a week from 7-9pm. Extra or extended rehearsals are occasionally held at the director's discretion. Performers are expected to be committed to meet the demands of producing a high quality show, but the rewards make all the time and energy worth it!

Set & Props

The scenery and props which provide the setting for any play are vital to creating the illusion of another place or time. Whether you are a master carpenter, a skilled artist, or an apprentice, your assistance is always welcome. Sets are designed by the head of construction and built by people of all skill levels. Newcomers are always welcome. Painters with skills from basic wall painting to true artistic talent are needed to turn the wood into scenery. Prop managers need to be scavengers to find the props needed, and good organizers to maintain and keep track of them.

Typical construction for a show takes place 2-3 nights per week from 7-9 pm in the State Theatre basement. The set crew also handles load-in (stage setup) the week prior to opening night.

Costumes

Take the audience to another place and time! Our costumers select and design clothing for ECCT shows. Seamstresses make or alter costumes to fit each cast member. Experienced sewers are always needed, but there are also opportunities for people who can do small hand-stitching tasks and people who can iron finished products.

Most of our sewing is done in the ECCT Costume Shop, and small projects can be taken home to be completed. Some jobs may require searching through our costume collection.

Hair & Makeup

Help each character 'come to life' by helping backstage with hair and makeup. Full stage make-up and hair styled to fit the time period and essence of the show are requirements for each production and dress rehearsal. Some experience with make-up and hairstyling is necessary.

Time commitment is one or more hours prior to each performance, in addition to any help you can offer during dress rehearsals. Email us to join our Hair/Makeup crew!

Cast Party

To celebrate the end of a performance, cast parties are held for cast and crew. A person or small committee is needed to organize a party and refreshments. The cast party team should also send out RSVPs and party costs, with a return portion for cast and crew to remit their portion of any party expenses.
